Abstract

The fireplace has a hearth plate (1) and a firebasket formed from water tubes (4). Behind the firebasket is a water reservoir (2) and an air heater (3). Fumes discharge into a duct (9) which leads to the chimney. Return water from the central heating enters the water reservoir (3) through the inlet (8) and passes through the water tube firebasket (4) before flowing to the central heating system through the outlet (7). Fresh air enters the air heater through the inlet (5) with the aid of a fan and leaves by the outlet (6). The room is also heated by convection and radiation from the open fire.
