Abstract

The packing carton is made from a single sheet of material and has a base integral with a short side (22) and two short ends (21). The ends are kept upright by the corner tabs (18). The long side (14) is integral with the base and extends to cover the bottles. The lid (12) has two integral end pieces (21) also located by corner tabs, and the fourth side (13) is glued to the short side (22). A handle (24) is cut out of the lids and two sides in the form of a strip integral with the sides at its ends (25).

Description

The present invention generally relates to packaging, all or part of which is formed by setting up a blank of cardboard, corrugated cardboard, or other sheet material.
It relates more particularly to the case where such a package must be provided with a handle suitable for gripping it.

 Most often, the blank that comprises such a packaging forming at least one flap at its upper part, such a handle is simply formed by a strip precut flat in the plane of said flap, openings being provided in this flap along said strip, for delimitation and gripping thereof.

 This is particularly the case for so-called "packsR" packaging commonly used for the grouped packaging of various articles, in particular bottles of beverage.

The gripping of such packaging is done with the fingertips, by insertion of the latter under the strip provided for this purpose, using the cutouts delimiting this strip.

 Such an arrangement is generally satisfactory when, the number of articles concerned by the same packaging being limited, the weight of the assembly is relatively reduced.

 It is not the same when, such a number being relatively high, of the order of twelve to twenty four for example, the weight to be carried becomes substantial.

 It is indeed then desirable, for a good mastery of the handling of such a packaging, that it is possible to strengthen the grip better than it allows the entry by the fingertips of a simple strip extending flat in the plane of its upper part.

 For packaging of this type, it has been proposed to attach a real handle to their upper part.

 But the corresponding operation is storytelling.

 The present invention generally relates to a provision for forming such a handle within the mime of the cardboard blank, corrugated cardboard or other sheet material, forming the packaging concerned or participating in the constitution thereof.

 More specifically, the present invention firstly relates to a blank for packaging, advantageously deliverable flat, cardboard, corrugated cardboard or other sheet material, of the kind comprising at least three flaps successively articulated two by two by parallel fold lines and a strip precut flat in one of said flaps for the constitution of a grip handle, this blank being characterized in that, said strip affecting the middle flap, not only does it extend over the whole of this, from one of the fold lines which delimit it to the other, but still it extends, at least in part, at its ends, on each of the lateral flaps which frame the said median flap, so that, after setting up the blank by folding said flaps, it is capable of deploying in a loop, projecting from the middle flap.

 The present invention also relates to a package of which all or part is formed by setting in volume of such a blank, this package therefore being characterized in that it comprises a precut strip which, initially extending in the plane of the flaps constituting said blank, is deployable.en.

handle by traction.

 Such a handle advantageously allows full engagement of the hand, and therefore allows firm and secure grip of the packaging concerned.

 In general, and as illustrated by FIG. 1, a blank for packaging 10 according to the invention comprises at least three flaps successively articulated two by two by parallel fold lines 11, namely, a median let let 12, and two lateral flaps 13, 14 framing this middle flap 12.

 Conventionally, in FIG. 1, the cutting lines have been shown in solid lines, and the folding lines in broken lines.

 The embodiment of the invention illustrated in FIGS. 1 to 5 relating to the constitution of a packaging of the sheath or sleeve type, the blank 10 comprises a fourth flap 15, separated from the flap 14 by a fold line 11 .

 Shutters 13 and 14 are bordered laterally, and on both sides, beyond fold lines 17, by two legs 18, and, jointly, the flaps 12, and 15 are bordered laterally, and on both sides. other, beyond fold lines 20 perpendicular to fold lines 11, by strips 21.

 In addition, beyond a fold line 11, the flap 15 is bordered transversely by a tongue 22.

 A strip 24 is precut flat in the blank 10 for the constitution of a grip handle, and, according to the invention, this strip 24, which extends substantially perpendicular to the fold lines 11, affects not only the middle flap 12, in the entirety of this, of one of the fold lines 11 which delimit it to the other, but still it extends, at least in part, at its ends, on each of the side flaps 13, 14 which frame the middle flap 12.

 In other words, the end roots 25 of this strip 24 are located in the side flaps 13, 14, in which they form fold lines parallel to the fold lines 11.

 Over at least part of its length, the strip 24, in the embodiment shown, is wider on the side flaps 13, 14 than on the middle flap 24, so that, in these side flaps 13, 14, it forms shoulders 26, on the one hand, and 27, on the other hand, opposite two by two.

 In practice, in the embodiment shown, the shoulders 27 extend substantially along the fold lines 11 delimiting the middle flap 12.

 In this middle flap 12, there are provided, from place to place along the strip 24, each side of the latter for gripping this strip 24, at least one opening in half-moon 29, and in practice two such openings.

 Finally, preferably, detachable retention points 30 connect from place to place the strip 24 to at least one of the flaps 12, 13 and 14 in the plane from which it is cut, and in practice, in the embodiment shown, to each of these components.

 The blank for packaging 10 thus formed can easily be made of cardboard, corrugated cardboard, or other sheet material, suitably cut and creased, according to techniques known in themselves, which will therefore not be described in detail here.

 Preferably, as regards the constitution of a packaging intended for the packaging of relatively heavy products, such a blank 10 is made of corrugated cardboard, and the strip 24 which is precut therein is doubled in thickness by a reinforcing strip, located for example between two of the layers which constitute it (not visible in the figures); such a reinforcing strip can be incorporated in the corrugated cardboard constituting the blank 10 during the same manufacturing thereof, according to techniques well known in the art.

Anyway, the blank for packaging 10 according to the invention is advantageously available flat.

 During its implementation at its places of use, the grouping 32 of articles to be packaged, bottles 33-for example, is placed on its flap 15, FIG. 2.

The flaps 13, 12 and 14 are then placed in volume, by winding in a sheath or sleeve around the grouping 32 of bottles 33, these flaps 13, 12 and 14 being successively folded square by two, around their fold lines 11 respective.

 At the end of such an operation, the flap 13 is applied against the tongue 22, previously erected at right angles and glued, and, likewise, the strips 21 of the flaps 12 and 15, folded at right angles for this purpose, are applied against the tabs 18 of the flaps 13 and 14, themselves previously folded square and glued, FIG. 3.

 As will be noted, the strip 24 forming a handle according to the invention follows the flaps 13, 12 and 14 in their folding, remaining in the plane thereof, so that the packaging 35 obtained, which is generally parallelepiped, does not have any projection on any of its faces.

 Such packaging 35 is therefore easily stackable, which facilitates its handling, in particular by palletization as well as its storage, in particular at its points of sale.

For the subsequent individual handling of such packaging, the user need only pass their fingers through the openings 29 of the flap 12, so as to grip the middle part of the strip 24, and, by pulling on it Ci, according to arrow F in FIG. 4, to force this strip 24 to deploy in handle 36 by rupture of the retention points 30 securing it hitherto to the flaps 12, 13 and 14.

 As it is easy to understand, such a deployment in a handle is authorized by the fact that, the strip 24 biting on the side flaps 13, 14 its side parts penetrate at an angle into the internal volume of the package 35, thus that it is visible in Figures 4 and 5.

 During such penetration, the sections of greater width that the strip 24 has on its lateral parts advantageously engage by force between the bottles 33 forming the contents of the package 35, and, thus, lock on these.

 As a result, if the traction exerted on the central part of the strip 24 is released, the handle 36 formed by this strip according to the invention retains its shape and remains projecting from the upper surface of the packaging 35.

 In the foregoing, the blank 10 according to the invention alone ensures the entire production of the packaging 35.

 It is not necessarily so, such a blank being able to participate only in the constitution of only part of such packaging 35.

 This is the case, for example, in the variant embodiments illustrated in FIGS. 6 and 7.

 In FIG. 6, the blank is reduced to its flaps 12, 13 and 14, and, according to a process analogous to that described above, it is thus able to form a cap 37 with which there is associated an independent bottom bowl 38 for the constitution of the desired packaging.

 In a manner known per se, this bottom bowl 38 can for example also be produced from a blank which can be delivered flat.

 Anyway, the attachment of the cap 37 to this bottom bowl 38 is for example by gluing the flaps 13 and 14 of this cap 37 on the corresponding edges 39 and 40 of the bottom bowl 38, to the outside of it.

 In FIG. 6, as in FIGS. 1 to 5, the strip 24 s1 extends transversely relative to the middle flap 12, that is to say parallel to the smallest dimension of this latter.

However, as a variant, in FIG. 7, it can extend longitudinally, that is to say parallel to the largest dimension of this middle flap 12.

 According to this variant, the middle flap 12 is flanked not only laterally, along its shorter length sides, by flaps 13 and 14 on which, as before, extends the strip 24 forming a handle according to the invention, but also, along its longer sides, by flaps 41 and .42, intended to cooperate with flaps 13 and 14 for the constitution of the side walls of the cap 37 to be formed.

 In the embodiment shown, the flaps 13, 14, 41 and 42 are indented at their base, the middle flap 12 has openings 43 for its engagement on the neck of the bottles to be packaged, and the openings also provided on this flap 12 to allow the strip 24 to be gripped are formed by slots 44 running along said strip 24.

 As in the embodiment of FIG. 6, the cap 37 thus formed is intended to be attached, for example by gluing, to a bottom bowl 38.

 Of course, the present invention is not limited to the embodiments described and shown, but encompasses any variant.

Claims (7)

 1) Blank for packaging in cardboard, corrugated cardboard or other sheet material, of the type comprising three flaps successively articulated two by two by parallel fold lines and a strip precut flat in one of said flaps for the constitution of a grip handle, ca characterized in that, said strip affecting the middle flap, not only does it extend over the whole thereof; of one of the fold lines which delimit it from the other, but still it extends at least in part its ends, on each of the lateral flaps which frame said median flap, so that, after the blank is placed in volume by folding of said flaps, it is able to deploy in a projecting handle on said median flap.  2) Blank according to claim 1, characterized in that, over at least part of its length, the strip is wider on the side flaps than on the middle flap.  3) Blank according to any one of claims 1, 2, characterized in that from place to place detachable retention points connect the strip to at least one of the flaps in the plane of which it is cut.  4) Blank according to any one of claims 1 to 3, characterized in that in the middle flap at least one opening is provided along the strip, for gripping thereof.  5) blank according to any one of claims 1 to 4, characterized in that the strip is doubled in thickness by a reinforcing strip.  6) Packaging of the kind of which all or part is formed by volume of a cardboard blank, corrugated cardboard or other sheet material, characterized in that said blank conforms to any one of claims 1 to 5.  7) Packaging according to claim 6, and therefore of the kind according to which a strip is precut in a blank participating in its constitution, in the plane of the constituent flaps of such a blank, characterized in that said strip is deployable in handle by traction .
