Abstract

The bracelet includes a gauge similar to a watch in appearance mounted on a strap. An inflatable balloon is attached in such a way that it is subject to the pressure in the blood arteries. The balloon itself lies inside the cylinder housing a spring biased piston. As pressure is applied to the contents of the balloon the piston is moved so that a shaft projects further from the cylinder. The shaft is attached to a wheel which rotates as the shaft moves. The wheel is toothed and engages a smaller toothed wheel to which a pointer is attached. The pointer moves around a circular scale in response to changes in the blood pressure. The device may also incorporate a watch, and a digital display.
