Abstract
Description
DISPOSITIF A NIVEAU DE BRUIT REDUT. NOTAMMENT VENTILATEUR. REDUCED NOISE LEVEL DEVICE. ESPECIALLY A FAN.
The present invention relates to a device with a reduced noise level, in particular a fan, in which the significant noise produced by rotation of the motor is attenuated by means of a casing formed from a concrete containing a plastic material.
In many applications, fans and air compressors are used where the noise produced by the machine disturbs people in the environment and is even harmful to health (air conditioning systems, boiler rooms, etc.).
The casings of known machines are arranged according to resistance requirements, so that the thickness of the walls is of the order of a few millimeters.
Casings with these wall thicknesses are not able to attenuate the noise produced by the moving components of the machines and even the noise is amplified in the case of structures formed by metal sheets.
To reduce the noise level, different parts of the fan were insulated. According to the patent application in the Federal Republic of Germany put for public inspection under No. 2 209 118, there is known a fan which comprises a suction cone of special profile which is filled with a material of sound insulation, or else the entire cone is formed of said material. This suction cone - arranged in the form of a component of the ventilator having a function of channeling flow - is housed in the casing of the ventilator and it is not very suitable for attenuating the noises which are generated during the air intake.
Swiss Patent No. 468,560 describes a fan which is suitable for maintaining a protective atmosphere in a flow. This fan is used in boiler rooms, but the insulating element does not make it possible to significantly reduce the noise transmission capacity of the motor casing.
Insulation of the fan housings is also ensured by placing external or internal layers. Thus, according to a Hungarian patent application, filed under No. FU-345, there is known a fan which has added sound insulation elements which are arranged asymmetrically. These added elements are placed between internal and external metallic surfaces forming envelopes. The outer metallic envelope and the inner metallic envelope are connected to each other - for the purpose of stiffening - by metal sheets.
The drawbacks of all these known constructions consist in that they only provide localized insulation which does not extend to the whole of the fan casing, or else that they contain metallic junction elements which are, however, good conductors of sound. Thus, these insulations are affected by connection parts which transmit noise. The inserts having a sound insulation function are progressively compressed against each other by the vibrations generated in the fan and they lose their sound insulation properties.
The object of the invention is to provide a device with a reduced noise level, that is to say in which the noise produced by the moving parts is attenuated by means of a perfectly effective sound insulation and where the casing does not produce also by itself no noise.
This problem is solved in that the machine casing is made from a moldable material - which has a sound or heat insulation property - with a thick wall, so as to form a one-piece assembly which ensures effective noise insulation.
The block thus formed can be dimensioned, by a known method, so as to obtain the desired noise level.
The material used has a very good insulating property with respect to noise and heat and the molding technique can be used both for devices in service and for new devices.
The material used is a self-supporting concrete and it is suitable for the incorporation of metallic inserts. These metallic inserts are, for example, constituted by the motor base, a tubular flange used to fix a pipe or, in the case of already installed devices, a conventional fixing plate.
We therefore see that we keep all the advantages of known devices, while eliminating their drawbacks and that we are simultaneously guaranteed to have a considerable reduction in the noise level in modern rotating machines such as, for example, fans. fast.
The invention therefore relates to a device with a reduced noise level, in particular a fan, which comprises a block-shaped casing in which the mobile components are housed, this casing being advantageously provided with attached metal elements and the material used with good sound and / or thermal insulation properties.
Other objects and advantages of the present invention will appear on reading the following description and the appended figures, given by way of illustration but not limitation.

Figure 3 shows a fan provided with an attached metal element; and
Figure 4 shows, in longitudinal section, a monobloc fan placed on a horizontal support.
In the drawings, a casing 1 is shown, in which the keyed rotor 4 is placed on the motor shaft 2. For fixing the motor, a metal plate 3 is provided, incorporated by molding in the casing 1.
On the suction side of the casing 1, a sound attenuating element 5 is provided, which is fixed with screws. This sound attenuating element 5 is applied against the suction side and is of a known type.
In Fig. 2, which represents the fan in section, the casing arranged in the form of a block is provided with a tube 9, incorporated in the molding, and which is applied against a fixing element 6 using a elastic wedge 10. On the upper part of the casing, there is provided a bellows 7 connected to the discharge pipe and making it possible to channel the outgoing air at increased pressure.
In Fig. 3, we can see the position of the metal plate 11 in the casing 1.
According to Fig. 4, the molded one-piece fan casing is placed on a concrete infrastructure. The suction pipe of the casing is located at the bottom and the air flows through channels 14 formed in the concrete 13 to penetrate through this intake pipe. At the base of the channels 14, it is possible to set up, to reduce the suction noise, a plate of insulating material 15 having the function of attenuating the sounds.
The motor is installed at the top of the casing and it rotates around a vertical shaft. The great advantage is that the housing contains no metallic components and that the weight of the motor can be absorbed under advantageous mechanical conditions. To produce the block-shaped casing, an organic filler such as, for example, cork is advantageously incorporated into the plastic used. The plastic must advantageously have a mark greater than that of the filler. Thus, it is advantageous to use a plastic material having good sound insulation properties.
When the objective consists in producing an inexpensive, thermally insulated machine with a reduced noise level, it is advantageous to use a mixture of commercial refractory concrete and expanded perlite.
The raw materials are well mixed during use and are poured into a mold. After the concrete has hardened, the mold is removed and the hardened block serves - without further treatment - as a casing for the machine.
The mold is conventionally made of wood. Before casting, it is possible to place added metal elements in the mold which remain embedded in the concrete after it has hardened.
A particular advantage of the monobloc fan according to the invention consists in that its weight is relatively low and in that it has good protection against corrosion. The reduction in weight is due to the density of the plastic concrete (0.3 to 0.6 kg / dm3).
When a motor protected against drops of water is used on the side of the housing, it is possible to install the monobloc fan in the open air without risking any damage.
Of course, the present invention is in no way limited to the embodiments described and shown; it is susceptible of numerous variants accessible to those skilled in the art, depending on the applications envisaged, and without departing from the spirit of the invention.
