Abstract

The machine comprises four or more arms (F), on a vertical shaft rotating in bearings. Each arm acts as a support for at least four flaps (PI-P4), these latter each being pivoted (1) about a single vertical pivot. The outer flap (PI) is the narrowest and the flap widths increase to the innermost (P4), which is the widest. The flaps are free to pivot on the arms and, as the wind blows against one set of flaps, in the closed position perpendicular to the wind direction, the flaps on the opposite arm automatically open to reduce drag.
