Abstract
Description
The present invention relates to a process for concentrating liquid and in particular black liquor from a stationery shop, as well as an installation for implementing this process.
In the paper industry, it is known to develop the black liquor resulting from the action of a base on wood, by burning it like a fuel in a boiler, after prior concentration.
This prior concentration is normally carried out in multiple effect evaporators and the concentrations reached are between 50 and 55%.
In order to obtain higher concentrations, generally of the order of 60-65%, these multiple-effect evaporators are preferably combined with a finisher, the vapor produced in this finisher being, for reasons of profitability, directed to one of the effects of the multiple effect evaporator. However, such installations lack flexibility. Indeed, the multiple effect evaporator is designed to concentrate at around 50-55%. However, in this concentration zone, any hazard on the boiler irreversibly affects the operation of the evaporator.
The present invention proposes to remedy this drawback and, to do this, it relates to a process which is characterized in that it consists in subjecting the liquid to be concentrated to a pre-concentration in a first concentrator which is an evaporator, to subjecting the liquid thus preconcentrated to a second concentration in a second concentrator, then bringing the concentration of said liquid to the desired final value in a finishing evaporator comprising at least one effect, the vapor of evaporation resulting from the single effect or from the last effect of the finishing evaporator being used in the first concentrator. It immediately appears that any hazard at the point of use of the concentrated liquid, that is to say at the level of the boiler where it is noisy, can only have repercussions on the pre-concentration stage. However, at this stage, the concentrations reached are located in a relatively low, non-dangerous area where a disturbance at the level of the boiler has no harmful effect on the preconcentration stage.
The second concentration will advantageously be carried out by evaporation.
To give even more flexibility to the process according to the invention, it is possible to direct the liquid having undergone the pre-concentration to a storage tank before being subjected to the second concentration, and it is possible to direct the liquid having undergone the second concentration to a storage tank before submitting it to final concentration in the finisher.
Another object of the present invention consists in a concentration facility for the implementation of the method described above. This installation is characterized in that it comprises a circuit of liquid to be concentrated on which are arranged in series and in this order, one or more effects of a first evaporator dv type with multiple effect, this or these effects ensuring the preconcentration of the liquid to be concentrated; a first storage tank; a second evaporator having at least one effect; a second storage tank; and finally the remaining effect (s) of the first evaporator. this or these effects constituting a finisher; the liquid to be concentrated circulating from the preconcentration effect (s) to the finisher effect (s) and, the vapor resulting from the single effect or from the final effect of the finisher being directed to the single effect or the first of the effects ensuring the preconcentration.
When the liquid to be concentrated consists of black pine liquor, the separation of the tall oil contained therein is advantageously carried out on the preconcentrated liquor. Thus, according to a variant, the installation which is the subject of the present application comprises, in the case where the liquid to be concentrated is a black pine liquor, a tall oil separator which is placed on the liquid circuit between the first storage tank and the second evaporator.
According to another variant, the effect or effects constituting the finisher are doubled so as to be able to circulate the liquid indifferently in one or the other of the finishers. This arrangement therefore allows for example the cleaning of one of the finishers while the other is in operation.
An embodiment of the present invention is shown by way of example in the appended drawing in which the single figure is a schematic representation of a concentration plant for black liquor of stationery.
This installation includes a multiple effect evaporator 1, the first effects of which constitute a finisher 2 and the remaining effects constitute a preconcentrator 3. The preconcentrator 3 is supplied by a conduit 4 with black stationery liquor whose concentration is approximately 15 to 17%. and of which it is desired to bring the concentration to approximately 60% before burning it in a boiler (not shown). This liquor undergoes a first concentration in this preconcentrator 3 and leaves it at a concentration of approximately 21%. It is then brought by a conduit 5 into a storage tank 6 before being directed by a conduit 7 to an evaporator 8 comprising at least one effect and in which the concentration of the liquor is brought to approximately 46%. Then the liquor from the evaporator 8 is conveyed by a conduit 9 into a storage tank 10 before roaming introduced by a conduit 11 into the finisher 2 where its concentration is brought about 46% to about 60%.
The effects constituting the finisher 2 working at very high concentrations, they tend to clog up more quickly than the effects constituting the preconcentrator 3. For this reason, it is advantageous to double the finisher 2; thus, when one of the pavers requires cleaning, the final concentration is provided by the other paver and vice versa.
