Description

The present invention relates to an armrest intended to be mounted on

  a vehicle door and that is at the

  both simple, inexpensive and convenient.

  This new armrest is characterized in that it comprises: - a U-shaped body having a part connecting two arms, the free ends of which are arranged to bear against the vehicle door, when this armrest is suitable for it, this body having a lateral projecting extension on one of said arms and which comprises a first branch in extension of the

  connecting part and a second branch extending from the end

The armrest shown comprises a body 10 in the form of U made of plastic and having a fork extension 12 of one of its ends. This body 10 has a

  part 18 connecting the two parallel arms 14, 16 for fixing the

  intended to be carried by their ends on the internal door surface (not shown) of the vehicle. This body 10 constitutes a handle

  facilitating the closing and opening of the door.

  The extension 12 projects laterally from the arm 16 and comprises a first branch 20 aligned with the part 15.18 and a second branch 22 extending from the free end of the

  arm 16 parallel to branch 20.

  A pivot axis 24 is mounted between the branches, 22 close to and parallel to the arm 16 of the body. An end portion 24a of the axis 24 of reduced diameter can pivot in a seat 26 formed on the internal surface of the branch 20 and its opposite end 24b passes through an opening in the other branch 22 and protrudes from the extension 12 in a fork . This end 24b of the axis 24 is wedged on a crank pin 30 whose free end has a hole 32 in which is held a free end of an actuating rod 36, which, when the armrest is mounted, is connected to the known mechanism of door opening.   helical spring 38 with end fingers surrounds the end portion

  mite 24b located between the crank pin 30 and the branch 22. The ends of the fingers of the spring bear respectively on the branch

22 and the crankpin 30.

  An actuating lever 40 is wedged on the axis portion 24 between the two branches 20 and 22. This lever consists of a rectangular plastic plate whose length is substantially equal to that of the branches 20 and 22 and the width slightly less than their interval. The underside

  A plate or transverse partition 54 connects the two branches 20, 22 of the fork 12 in their middle part. The upper edge of the plate 54 (depending on the orientation of the bzas rest adapted to the door) leaves a slight play with respect to the surfaces

  20a, 22a respectively of the branches 20, 22.

  This armrest can be fixed to the door by two screws (not shown) respectively blocked in a hole 56

  of the lever 14 coaxial of two aligned holes 58 of the branches 20 and 22.

  The lever 40 is movable between a lowered position of rest indicated in solid lines and the high open position indicated in broken lines (Figures 1 and 2). The lowering of the lever corresponds to the closing of the door mechanism while the bottom surface of the lever rests in this position against the

  upper branch of the transverse plate 54, the surface

  periure being parallel to the axis of the fork 12 flush with the sur-

  upper faces 20a, 22a of the branches 20, 22.

  In the raised position of the lever 40, the crank pin 30 is in the position indicated in broken lines in FIG. 2 and which corresponds to the opening of the door mechanism, the lever 40 is then moved away from the fork 12 and abuts by its surface from above against the arm 16 of the body 10. The spring 38 with fingers recalls the actuating lever 48 towards its lowered position in abutment on

the plate 54.

Claims (4)

  1. Armrest for vehicle door, characterized in that it comprises a U-shaped body (10) having a part (18) with two fixing arms (14, 16) whose free ends are intended to rest , when the armrest is mounted on the vehicle door, this body having a fork extension (12) projecting laterally from one (16) of the two arms and comprising a first branch (20) in extension of the part (18) and a second branch (22) extending from the free end of the part   (18) parallel to the first branch (20), a pivot axis (24)   closely mounted in the first and second branches nearby and   in parallel with the arm (16), one end (24b) of the axis (24) exceeds   health of said second branch (22) and forming a pin (30) connected to an actuating element (36) of the door opening mechanism, a lever (40) fixed to the part of the axis (24) pivot between said first and second branches, this lever having a length substantially equal to that of the branches (20, 22) and a width corresponding to their interval and capable of being moved   manually to rotate the axis (24) on itself in order to act-   ner said mechanism for opening the stops (54, 16) arranged to limit the stroke of the lever (40) between a lowered position of rest according to which it is flush with the surface (20a, 22a), of the branches (20, 22 ) turned upwards when the armrest is mounted on the door and a high open position in which it is   away from the extension (12) and elastic means (38) the peeling in said rest position.   2. Armrest according to claim 1, characterized in that the underside of the lever (40), relative to its mounting orientation, comprises a bead (50) at its free end and a means (42) with transverse hole ( 44) crossed by the axis (24), the underside (52) of the lever between these means (42) and bead (50) being knurled.   3. Armrest according to claim 1 or 2, charac-   further characterized in that said stops comprise a transverse plate (54) connecting said branches (20, 22) in the intermediate position of the ends, the upper edge of this plate according to the mounting orientation of the armrest ending at a short distance upper surfaces (20a, 22a) of the branches, said lower position of the lever (40) being determined by its contact   with the upper edge of said plate.   4. Armrest according to any one of the preceding claims, characterized in that said elastic means consist of a helical spring (38) with folded fingers surrounding the axis (24) and placed beyond the second branch ( 22)   of the fork (12) and whose folded fingers are supported res-   pectively against the fork and the crank pin (30).
