Abstract

Porous blocks are made by agglomeration of non-spherical particles or clusters of expanded polystyrene, by consolidation after superficial heating to at least 90 deg.C. Suitable for subsoil drainage or for spreading water from a point irrigation source. The rough surface of the blocks provides a good key for cement. The pieces may be obtd. by breaking up and re-using expanded polystyrene slabs or mouldings produced from spherical beads.
