Abstract

In rainwear or sports garments, seams are made waterproof by sewing a strip of waterproof fabric into them, using the same line of stitching as the seam. Strip may be included flat between the two fabric pieces, or may be folded lengthwise so that its edges are included in the seam. Method waterproofs seams of an impermeable garment without resorting to coating them, and offers appearance of a normal seam, as seen from the outside of the garment.

1.- Method for sealing a seam joining two pieces of fabric, characterized in that one has along the seam a strip of waterproof fabric fixed by said seam to said pieces so as to seal the passage formed between the pieces at their junction.

2.- Method according to claim 1, characterized in that the strip of waterproofed fabric is fixed between the two pieces by the seam line which joins said pieces.

3.- Method according to claim 1, characterized in that said fabric strip is folded longitudinally on itself and externally covers the free edges of the two pieces of fabric, free edges which extend parallel to the seam line.
