Abstract

The process relates to the removal of impurities, for example refinery products and/or refinery residues, from ground waters or surface waters. The process is carried out in such a way that ozone is added to the contaminated waters, without significant change of the water balance in a water circulation, by a) taking the contaminated water from one or more points in the contamination area, b) introducing ozone into the water taken and c) then re-introducing the water treated with ozone at one or more points in the contamination area.
