Abstract

The sap retarder comprises a ring (4) which fits closely around the trunk (1) of the tree or other similar plant. Between this ring and the truck is fitted a coil (6) for cooling or refrigerating the ring. The appts. is fitted into position during the winter season, when a mild spell causes a too early rising of the sap in the trunk. This sap (5) is cooled or coagulated and the tree does not put out leaves which can be damaged by later frosts.
