Abstract

The chuck (1) uses a tubular conical clamp (3) which is pulled into a conically bored sleeve (2) by a lever (5a) operated cranked (4) shaft (5). A flared base (11) with angular graduations (11A) may be mounted on a fixed bed plate (10), the former (11) having an axial circular and part conical recess (12) which houses a reciprocal plate (10) upstand (13). A cranked (21) axle (22) traverses an appropriately stepped diametric bed plate bore (23). When axial tension is applied to the coupling, interface friction prevents relative rotation of the base (11) and the bed plate (10).
