Abstract

A video disc player utilises a disc cassette that permits automatic extraction and transfer of the disc onto the turntable. Following use the disc is automatically returned into the cassette housing. The player has a turntable (38) and a pick-up (40) mounted on a carriage (42) that moves into position when the disc is in position. The disc is loaded in the housing and has a coupled transfer carrier with interlocking hooks. When the cassette is presented to the player insert slit, the formed hooks engage with interlocking catches (100) on the turntable. The catches move forward to extract the disc into position over the turntable.
