Abstract
Seismic prospecting system, esp. for oil and gas deposits which require the detection of the presence and the positioning of salt domes and of their flanks, emits and receives the seismic waves on the dip side of a salt dome flank. The distance of the shot points from the reception points is at least double that from any shot point to the projection of the ridge of the flank. Waves which are reflected at a double reflection point, common to all shot and reception points, are recorded. This improves the accurate mapping of salt domes, deepens the possible prospecting depth and makes the measurements less susceptible to noise interference.
