Abstract

The movement of an object is detected by movement of a mass acting on a piezoelectric element. This can modulate a carrier frequency for transmission to a controller which strikes a moving object. Such a detector acts as an anti theft device for a vehicle. A detector (1) comprises a piezoelectric element (5) which produces an electrical voltage when a mass activated by an intruder acts against it due to a change of direction or acceleration from a shock. The mass comprises a percussion element which slides in a fixed slide. The voltage is applied to the primary winding of a step up transformer (3) whose secondary winding is connected to a transmitter (4). The detector voltage amplitude modulates the transmitter output for emission by its antenna (16).
