Abstract

The liq. to be atomised is taken from a storage vessel (1) by a pump (2). The injection of CO2 is effected in a pipe (3) by a pipe (4) with a calibrated nozzle (5) at its end. A baffle element (6) is placed downstream of the nozzle (5) and upstream of a valve (7) which maintains a counterpressure, and which has an orifice allowing liq. to pass even in the case of accidental closure. The liq. is then discharged to a tank (9) through a dip pipe (8). It is then sent by a pump (10) to the top of an atomisation tower fitted with a turbine atomiser. The method is simpler and more efficient than existing methods comprising diffusion of fine bubbles necessitating the use of finely calibrated diffusers. The gas, usually CO2, can be charged by a large nozzle and the appts. can be taken down and cleaned easily for maintenance.
