Abstract
The system allows entrance to a heated high pressure or vacuum chamber of a rod which may be movable. It is partic. applicable to a resistance heating element or a temperature or pressure measuring probe. The tube (12) is soldered to the metal wall of the chamber (10). A refractory material (20) centralises the rod (16). A collar (18) holds the electrically insulating collar (24) away from the refractory material. The latter collar (24) in conjunction with a similar insulating collar (26) compresses the sealing material (22) when the threaded ring (14) is tightened. The insulating collars (24) and (26) are of a material such as Teflon (RTM) and the sealing material is compressed fibres or loose packed granulated material. The insulating collar (26) further from the chamber wall also limits the travel of the electric current connection (28) to prevent arcing to the chamber wall.
