Abstract

Appts for loading explosive powder into a die of a press comprises a filler pipe which can be raised or lowered coaxially into the inlet opening of the die. The outlet end of the filler pipe tapers conically inwards and a conical plug of opposite conicity is mounted coaxially in this outlet by means of a central bar connected to the surrounding frame. The plug can be used to close the outlet from the pipe by relative movement between plug and pipe produced by a pressurised fluid. Used partic for charging easily detonated explosive powders where friction could generate sufficient heat to cause explosion.
