Abstract
A process for the hydroponic culture of herbage, useful as an animal feed, comprises a) storing seeds or grains in an electrostatic field, the stored grain being kept around the cathode, and the grain that is about to be germinated being stored around the anode, b) culturing the germinated grain in culture vessels. The two steps are carried out in the presence of air, water, and natural light at 17 to 26 deg.C. Germination and culture are carried out in vessels which are subjected to cosmic and telluric waves, and the water used for germination and culture has been passed through a magnetic field by passage around electrodes emitting cosmic and telluric waves and has been charged with substances of which the electrodes have been made or with which they have been coated. The water has also been treated with an enzyme mixt. which penetrates the cell walls of the grains and comprises 35000 units per g of hemicellulase 9000 units per g of cellulase 3250 units per g of pectinase 300 units per g of beta-glucanase 15 units per g of xylanase 10000 units per g of acid protease 15 units per g of pectin-esterase. Treatment with these mixed enzymes may be followed by treatment with gibberellic acid. The process gives a much higher yield of food at only a slightly increased cost. It requires no fertilisers, fungicides, pesticides etc. and so is ecologically safe.
