Abstract

The technique is applicable to all the junctions in the bicycle frames and is based on the use of a coil (D) either around the junction of the frame elements or within the junction. The energy within the coil field is derived from the discharge through the coil of a bank of capacitors (C) via a series switch (B). The capacitor bank is itself charged from a high voltage source (A). The mating ends of the frame tubes can have conical, cylindrical or polygonal shapes all having in common a tapered outer tube section (11) which is forced by magnetic force onto the cylindrical section (21) of its mating part. The joint can include a double overlap or grooves to ensure keying.
