Abstract
The gear-box control has a speed detector measuring the angular speeds of the shafts entering and leaving the gear box. A position detector measures the position of the engine's accelerator pedal. The outputs of the two detectors are passed to a programmed microprocessor that controls the gear box. A preselector selects the gear box's mode of operation and is also coupled to the microprocessor. The preselector has a key-type lock allowing the gear box to be switched from manual to automatic and vice versa. The preselector has a keyboard for the automatic and manual control of the gear box. The microprocessor contains a programmable ROM and also receives signals denoting the various parameters of the engine.
