Abstract

The cleaning mechanism is for the trash grille at the inlet to a hydroelectric power station etc. It has a rake whose frame pivots on a horizontal axis upstream of the grille. Its teeth pass between the grille bars. The rake frame (13) has a lattice-work screen (28) of the same width as the grille (1) and extending over the upstream face of the frame as far as the downwards-pointing teeth (14), also an inverted transverse chute (31), one of whose sidewalls is formed by the screen. The collected trash is emptied by the chute into a fixed lateral collector vessel (35), the rake being swung in the upstream direction into the inverted position to allow this to be done.
