Abstract

Compsn. used in the form of a lotion contains 0.3-3 wt. % of pyrethrin or its derivs. 0.1-5 wt. % of lavender or citronella oil, 1-25 wt. % of an ester of a fatty acid and a polyol, 1-80 wt. % water and 10-80 wt. % of 95 degrees ethanol. The compsn. may be placed in a PVC-type container and applied via a mechanical pump or as an aerosol. Effective against lice, fleas, flies, mosquitoes, etc., and has a pleasant odour and low toxicity. The compsn. may be applied to hair or fur of animals, and avoids repeated washing with insecticidal shampoos (esp. useful in the case of pups, kittens, etc.).
