Abstract
The sound absorbent unit comprises an outer casing which fits into a fluid duct. This casing is equipped with baffles positioned across the duct and designed to absorb and nullify the sound waves. Each baffle has an inner core (4) of sound absorbing material which is enclosed within a perforated wall (6). This is then enclosed within a second perforated wall (5), the sapce between being dimensioned to suit the particular use. These spaces, corresponding to all baffles, are also connected to an auxiliary supply (B), providing a pressure higher than that in the duct.
