Abstract

The auto-declutching drive coupling is used on roller conveyors, being designed to obviate motor overload when conveyed goods are jammed. A hollow cylindrical roller (2) is rotatably mounted on a fixed axle (3). Offset at one end, a chain driven pinion also rotates freely on the axle, terminating in a square section sleeve which projects into the roller (2). Pairs of sliding elements (9) are positioned on two opposite sleeve (20) sides, the members of each pair being maintained apart by a coil spring. Diametrically opposed shoes are mounted on the segments, both incorporating a roller (10).
