Abstract

The window frame has at least one 'U' section groove (2) which locates an edge of a glass sheet (3). One wall (6) of the groove is rigid to provide positive lateral glazing location, and the other (9) has an internally projecting lip (10). The base wall (11) may be capable of elastic deformation to assist sheet edge insertion. The frame may have two grooves (2, 2a) being used for double glazed (3, 3a) installations, and includes a thickened central flange (6) with a cavity (4) for a dessicant. Two lips (10, 13, 7, 8) or ribs may be provided on all internal vertical groove faces, one (10) on the top edge, the other (13) at mid-height. Mastic (20) may be placed in grooves before the glass is inserted.
