Abstract

A vertical grip bar for a vehicle has a simple clamping flange on the floor and a sliding bearing through a roof void. The upper bearing has a sleeve to grip the bar and allow it to slide with the flexing of the vehicle bodyshell. The sleeve is elastic to absorb vibrations and to provide a simple grip. The upper mounting of the bar does not require special clamping flanges shaped to fit the roof profile. The sliding bearing can be a simple rubber grommet moulding and can be used on most types of vehicle.
