Abstract

The connector is used in the construction of demountable furniture, joining two panels (3) at right angles, utilising a rotatable hammer head (9) coupling pin (8) engaging a keyhole block (15), and providing the pin with a cranked radial actuating lever (11). The head (9) and the keyhole fitting (15) may have interactive ramped faces which draw the two panels together. Fitting in a blind bore (2) of which the walls open out on the panel edge (5), a circular casing (10) with a corresponding flat wall locates the pin (8). The casing inc. a rectangular window (12) of which the centroid coincides with the axis of the casing, and of which the long side is normal to the pin (8). The window (12) locates the lever (11) which can pivot (4) some 90 deg. between unlocked and fully locked positions. In the former position the lever (11) may project normally from the panel surface, and in the latter may lie recessed flush with this surface.
