Abstract

The lip is fixed to a cooking receptacle (4) to prevent the overflow of a boiling liquid. It consists of an external annular basin (2) which extends the top part of the receptacle. The inner edge (1) of the basin is at a lower level than its outer edge (3). The basin has a groove (5) cut into its front wall, which goes right round it and is of an appropriate width and depth to assist with cooling the liquid. The basin can form part of the receptacle or it can be independent.
