Abstract

An electrode designed to eliminate H2O2 and reduce electrochemical polarisation of oxygen esp. in reversible generators in alkaline medium and in fuel cells, comprises a collecting metal grid e.g. Ni covered with a C black catalyst coated with iron naphthalocynanine and a binder comprising e.g. PTFE. The electrode exhibits higher conductivity than prior art electrodes and does not require thermal pretreatment of the C black at high temps. Therefore, polarisation is significantly lower at high current densities, thus allowing the activity and service life of the catalysts to be increased.
