Abstract
The leak indicator is designed, in particular, for winding spaces of electric motors for submersible-motor pumps. Between electrodes, which conduct a signal current when bridged, there is arranged a layer which initially is electrically insulating but is electroconductive after absorbing leakage fluid. So as to ensure, on the one hand, a reliable indication in the case of a hazardous leakage amount, but on the other hand to avoid false alarms due to nonhazardous proportions of moisture, the layer (3) arranged between the electrodes (1, 2) consists of oil-impregnated asbestos.
