Abstract
The attack system is for use against targets near the ground and involves the use of missiles with homing heads. The surface of the ground is surveyed by means of CO2 laser pref. of the waveguide type, and the reflected signals are detected by the heterodyne reception. A mixing frequency characteristic of the radial velocity of the moving target in relation to the homing head is generated, and these signals are simultaneously correlated with the heat signals generated by an infra-red detector. The result is used to find and pursue the target automatically.
