Abstract

L'invention concerne une imprimante par points et par lignes. Elle comporte une rangée de marteaux pouvant exécuter un mouvement alternatif transversalement à un support d'impression 11. Les marteaux forment des groupes se déplaçant chacun sur une longueur choisie de la ligne d'impression, et ils sont commandés par un circuit électronique permettant d'effectuer une impression comprimée des caractères, ou bien une impression des caractères à la largeur normale, sans modification des fonctions principales de l'imprimante Les caractères comprimés ont la même hauteur que les caractères normaux, mais leur largeur est réduite par rapport à celle de ces derniers, de sorte qu'il est possible d'imprimer un plus grand nombre de caractères comprimés que de caractères normaux sur une ligne de même longueur.
