Abstract

A steam iron of the main patent has improved steam production and reduced encrustation or furring. A long path is introduced between the front and the back of the iron for water undergoing vaporisation. Oblong passages run parallel to the base plate to extend the steam path, and their distribution prevents the entrainment of residual water droplets. Sudden flooding of the vaporisation chamber by the injection device is not permitted before the iron is hot enough, so that damp steam is not produced on the washing.
