Abstract
Radiating solar energy is concentrated by a mirror which is fixed on the surface of the ground. The mirror comprises a series of flat strips of reflecting material to reflect the energy onto a cylindrical focal area to provide heat. A solar energy concentrator comprises a reflector which comprises several long and narrow reflecting strips. These are located side by side on the surface of a curved base. The received solar radiation is reflected by these strips onto a focal area in the form of a tube mounted on a series of vertical support pylons to which articulating arms are attached. Counterweights provide a balanced structure to allow synchronous drive motors to position the tube under servo control to take account of the height of the sun.
