Abstract

Ce ralentisseur comprend un dispositif d'accouplement 13 immergé dans un liquide et monté entre l'arbre de transmission 12 et un organe résistant 33, lequel est normalement entraîné en rotation avec l'arbre 12 par suite de la résistance visqueuse existant dans l'accouplement 13. Un frein à sec 14 opposant par friction une plus grande résistance que l'accouplement sert à immobiliser l'organe résistant 33 pour qu'un mouvement relatif se produise dans l'accouplement. Dans un mode de réalisation, l'accouplement est constitué par un empilage de disques 25, 28, 29, 31, 32 alternativement reliés à l'arbre 12 et à l'organe résistant 33, le frein 14 immobilisant tout d'abord l'organe résistant 33 puis le déplaçant axialement pour appliquer les disques de friction les uns contre les autres. Application aux ralentisseurs de véhicules poids lourds.
