Abstract

The installation is of the type in which a centrifugal pump is used to recycle the matter from and back to a storage pit. The outlet from the pump has a two-way discharge which can be switched from recycle to external delivery. Inside the pit, recycled matter is pumped down a vertical pipe which can rotate on its longitudinal axis. The lower end of the pipe has radial, hollow arms with discharge nozzles at the outer ends. The nozzles are orientated so that expelled matter rotates the pipe and arms rotor assembly. Recycled matter is pref. used to drive a turbine which blows air down the vertical pipe into the matter being treated. Orientation of the rotor discharge nozzles is pref. adjustable. Used for treating sewage etc. and agitating it to keep it broken up so that it is (a) more effectively treated and (b) can be discharged as an homogeneous mixture for spreading as manure etc.
