Abstract

Liq. photosensitive compsn. comprises (a) >=1 unsaturated polyester produced from >=1 unsatd. polycarboxylic acid, a satd. polycarboxylic acid and >=1 polyol; (b) >=1 ethylenically unsatd. polymerisable monomer; (c) >=1 photosensitive initiator chosen from benzoins, anthraquinones, diketones, 2,2-dialkoxy substd. acetophenones, 2,2-dialkoxy-2-phenyl substd. acetophenones and disulphides; and (d) 0.1-15% (on total wt. of the compsn) of a poly(hydroxyl ether) (I) derived from a diphenol and an epihalohydrin, with a mol. wt. of 8000-200,000. (I) is pref. a bisphenol A-epichlorohydrin resin. The compsns. are useful in the prodn. of high quality relief printing plates. The (I) increases the viscosity of the photosensitive resin compsn. so that the resin is less likely to flow during the plate making processes, thus avoiding undesirable blemishes on the finished plate.
