Abstract
The testing device has a processor (8) controlling the testing operation, and using the test data and the testing parameters to supply test results in an analogue display unit (4) via a D/A converter. The display unit (4) may be coupled to an image store (5) to allow a fixed image to be obtained. The device for testing pipes (1) has a test head (2) coupled to an analogue testing network (3), supplying the ultrasonic pulses and evaluating the received signal. The processor (8) is coupled to the testing network (3) via an A/D converter and a hardware data reduction unit (7). The initiation and adjustment of the testing programme is obtained via an input device (11), e.g. using a perforated data tape, while a joystick control (10) or control keyboard (9) is used for positioning the test head (2). The display unit (4) is coupled directly to the processor (8) via a D/A converter.
