Abstract

An ultrasonic echograph allows a medical patient to be examined in order to obtain a diagnosis. A sectorial sweep and dynamic focussing allow an image to be obtained in the transverse plane. A probe is mounted on a pantograph (50) and coders determine the angles for input (L1-3) to a microprocessor (51). A programmed memory (52) contains the values of signals to apply to delay lines to obtain the electronic sweep. A receiver (3) contains an amplifier (53) whose gain varies with time to compensate for propagation losses. This is controlled by a live memory (55) under control from the microprocessor. A detector (56) applies the signals to an A/D converter (57) for application to a central memory (500) via a buffer (58). A live memory (580) contains instructions for the intensity of a point and calculations allow the image to be displayed (540).
