Abstract

A paper or plastic strip is glued to a packet which is being moved in order to seal the packet. The movement of the packet controls the application of the strip. A cardboard box (1) is moved by a conveyor (2) above which is a roller (3) for gummed tape (4). This tape passes over a guide roller (5) then over a series of cylindrical guides (6-10) two (7, 9) of which are movable. The tape is then driven by a motor drive cylinder (11) and pressure wheel (12) and is controlled by an electronic counter system (17), below the drive system are located the cutters (14, 15). These act synchronously with a brake (16) at the final cylindrical guide (10) to stop movement of the tape during cutting. Pressure wheels (24, 25) press the tape onto the box during its forward movement.
