Abstract

The electrically and thermally isolating support is for the heater elements of radiators which are basically long and thin as used in train and underground passenger compartments along a plinth etc. The support allows an even distribution of air flow, prevents the formation of hot spots and avoids any possibility of danger to passengers. The radiating surface (3) is approximately rectangular and is housed within a plinth (4) etc. hot air circulating out naturally or driven through a louvred grill (5) on the open face of the 'U' (4). The folded and insulated (17) resistance wire heater (6) is held within a deflecting 'U' shaped channel (4) and secured by an insulated bolt (17) between the two sides of the fold. Double insulation is achieved by securing the channel via a bracket held by an insulating bush (20a, 20b) around a positioning bolt (21).
