Abstract

The door (1) slides laterally and lifts and pivots when moving between closed and open positions. The top trailing door edge (3) runs on a rail (5) which curves (7) in plan before running parallel to the door opening. Both leading corners (2) run on rails (6) which curve initially (8) to run obliquely (B) to the door opening. All rails are initially ramped (7) in elevation. The door can be held in any position whilst a single handle manoeuvre effects unlocking and sliding. The start tangent to all rail curves are parallel and subtend an acute angle (A) with the door opening. The trailing rail curve is concave when viewed from the door opening plane, and the leading rail curves convex.
