Abstract

Two generators are used in arrangement finding application in cabling plant, for detecting breakage, end, or absence of article or product, such as ribbon or thread, added to or incorporated in cable which is already finished or is in course of mfr. One generator is driven by advance of prod. in installation whilst other is drawn by cable itself in same plant. Two generators are linked to system comparing tensions appearing at generator terminals, and energising alarm system when there is lack of equilibrium between tensions. Used to remove problem of broken constituents which remain in zone of detector. Detector described monitors not simply presence or absence of prod., but also its forward motion, so that it is independent of point of breakage.
