Abstract

The glass tubes (14) are stacked into square blocks which are capped at the ends by a plastics cover (1). The cover is flanged at the side (3) to overlay a short length of the tubes. The covers are fitted with lugs (6) on two sides and corresponding grooves on the opposite sides to allow stacking of the bundles. Each bundle is held together by a strap (12) fitting in a groove (11) across the middle of the end caps. With this packing arrangement glass from broken tubes does not enter the unbroken tubes.
