Abstract

Novel photocrosslinkable polymer (I) contains lateral amine-oxide chains. Also claimed is a photocrosslinked polymer obtd. by subjecting (I) contg. N-oxide gps. to radiation of wavelength 200-600 nm. (I) may be obtd. (a) by homopolymerisation of an unsatd. monomer contg. N-oxide gp. or by copolymerisation with e.g. styrene, butadiene, isoprene etc.; or (b) by homopolymerisation or copolymerisation with above monomers of an unsatd. monomer contg. a tert. amine gp. and subsequent conversion of the amine gp. to amine-oxide gp. Polymer has good mechanical properties after irradiation. It is used for the prodn. of negative photoresists e.g. for printed circuits and offset printing plates.
