Abstract

Stabilisers for vinyl resins are of formula (I). In (I) R1 is 1-16C alkyl, 4-16(alkenyl, phenol or phenyl- (1-6C alkyl); R2 is 1-18 C alkyl, 3-11C alkynyl, omega-halongenoethyl, benzyl opt. substd. in posn. 2 or 4 by halogen, methyl or methoxy, phenyl-(2-3C alkenyl), phenol opt. p-substd. by halogen, methyl or methoxy, or a radical of formula R4-O-(CH2)n; n is 2-4; R4 is 1-4 C alkyl opt. omega-substd. by halogen or methoxy, or phenol; R3 is H, 1-7C alkenyl or phenyl; provided when R1 is methyl and R3 is H, R2 is not alkyl or phenyl. The cpds. may be used in lower amts. than known stabilisers. They give a better light resistance to colours included in the resins and have superior antioxidant properties to known phenolic cpds.
