Abstract

A process for filtering air with automatic cleaning of the filters consists of displacing a cleaning element and the filtering element in relation to one another so as two sweep the surface of the latter. The filter is pref. a hollow cylinder comprising an assemblage of cylindrical filter elements with means of providing a longitudinal suction along the axis and means of rotating the cylinder. The means of cleaning the filter can be receptacle contg. a liq. in which dips a longitudinal portion of the cylinder. The process and appts. are partic. intended for filtering air contg. fats and fumes encountered in places where culinary appts. e.g. ovens, frying equipment, is situated. It is not necessary to take down and treat the filters to prevent them being clogged with consequent redn. in ventilation efficiency, risk of fire and microbial growth. The device according to the invention is simpler to construct, and more robust, economical and light than existing equipment; it can be installed quickly and reduces energy consumption while maintaining optimum efficiency.
