Abstract

Joints for assembling adjacent panels involves the use of longitudinally undercut profiles of e.g. extruded rigid PVC, positioned so that grooves aligned for opposing profiles may be interlocked in situ by insertion of a sliding key profile. Pref. the profile forms or faces are rib to create an interfacial chicane and >=1 strip of elastic material (rubber) is incorporated to bridge the joint interface by elastic compression. The resulting joints are both sealed and concealed. Used for assembling composite insulation panels made of e.g. a layer of expanded polyurethane resin between faces of sheet steel and polyester resin respectively.
