Abstract

The system aligns two components such as machine parts, using a flat mirror (1, 2) mounted on each part (7, 8) at right angles to the axis to be aligned, the mirrors being brought opposite each other. One or more markings, bundles of rays etc are reflected by both mirrors, and one or both the parts are moved so that the position of the pictures formed behind one of the mirrors coincides with the predetermined picture position when the mirrors are parallel. Two mirrors can be used, each mounted in a frame (3, 4) with brackets for fitting these frames onto the parts so that they are at right angles to their axes. One or more markings or light sources are provided on frames or mirrors.
